What is it?

Swinburne’s International Business Minor is a unique study option that allows you to complete this minor by taking Swinburne units at one of our partner teaching locations in Malaysia or Vietnam.

How does it work?
You'll study one semester (and take three or four Swinburne business units) overseas at one of our partner teaching locations in Malaysia or Vietnam. You may also have the option to enhance your experience by combining this with a faculty-led study tour.

Classes are all delivered at modern campuses and taught in English.


​​​​​​​By completing the International Business Minor overseas, you’ll gain a globally recognised qualification that will appear on your academic transcript- highlighting your international experience and cross-cultural skills to future employers.

This minor is currently not available at Swinburne’s Hawthorn campus, making it a unique opportunity to diversify your degree while studying in Malaysia or Vietnam. You’ll also benefit from a fresh academic environment, new perspectives, and the chance to build a global professional network.

Eligibility 
To be eligible for this program, you must meet the following criteria:
  • Have a minimum academic average of 60% (credit average),
  • Be enrolled into a Bachelor of Business students, or any Bachelors degree with electives. 
  • Have at least one year of studies completed.


​​​​​​​Minor must be completed in:

  • Year 2, Semester 2; or 
  • Year 3, Semester 1

Choose between two of Swinburne's partner teaching locations:

  • Swinburne Vietnam Alliance Program (SVAP) - Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
  • INTI International University and College - Subang, Malaysia
When will this minor start being offered to students?

  • Asian Regionalism and Global Business
  • Sustainable International Business Strategy*

Potential Study Tour Option
  • You may be able to substitute one unit* for a faculty-led study tour instead.
  • So in total, you could study three of these units at the host institution and complete one unit on a study tour program (typically 2-3 weeks).

  • Bahasa Malaysia or Vietnamese language classes available with international students
  • International student trips & clubs available 
  • Buddy programs with local students 
Accommodation 
  • No on-campus housing; the partner can assist students in finding accommodation and provide housing list & contacts
How can I afford it? 

A range of funding opportunities are available to help you undertake an overseas experience- Australian Government scholarships, grants and loans may be available to you, as well as Centrelink payments.

OS HELP Loan

  • A loan of up to $9,893* that gets added to your HECS-HELP debt. The money is deposited into your bank account, and you can use it to help cover all your travel-related expenses like flights, visas, accommodation and more. Plus an extra $1,314 for Asian language study in preparation for study in Asia (amount current as of 2025). 
  • Other Swinburne Travel Grants and Scholarships*.
